MY STORY
Bassist, songwriter, and music educator with over 30 years in metal.
Founder & CEO of Metal Academy.
I was born in Valparaíso, Chile, where I discovered metal at the age of 13 — a revelation that would shape my life and career. Two years later, after moving to Santiago, I refined my bass technique under renowned Chilean musicians Juan Carlos Vega (Ghoulish) and JJ Letelier (Praise The Flame).
At 18, I relocated to Milan, Italy, where I formed my first death metal band, Mindcage, and recorded my debut demo. In 2005, I moved to Barcelona, Spain, where I organized a European tour for Mindcage and signed my first endorsement deal with Weisse Hügel — fulfilling a long-held dream. During that same period, I performed as a session bassist on the Spanish tour of Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius).
After settling in Barcelona, I collaborated with Aarón López on the album Metamorphosis while joining Aggression, with whom I recorded Viocracy. In 2013, I left the band to join SMRT, an experimental blackened death metal project where I recorded two albums and collaborated with world-class musicians such as Steve DiGiorgio, Tony Laureano, Achokarlos, and Riky Mena.
In 2016, I joined Human Carnage (brutal death metal) and Tales of Gaia (power metal), contributing to the albums Ancient Covenant of Obscenity and Hypernova, respectively.
A year later, I founded Metal Academy, the first music school in Spain fully dedicated to heavy metal and its subgenres — a long-time vision brought to life. Around the same time, I began formal studies at the Conservatori del Liceu’s Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz in Barcelona.
During the pandemic, I took part in the international project Metal Against Coronavirus, collaborating with artists including Jeff Becerra, James Murphy, Karl Willetts, Jordi Creus, and Pep Bruguera (Pánico al Miedo), among many others.
Today, I remain active as a session bassist and a full-time member of Human Carnage, Pánico al Miedo, SMRT, and Mindcage.
With over 30 years of experience as a bassist and more than two decades in the music industry, I am known for my precision, versatility, and commitment to excellence. My playing — equal parts aggressive and expressive — reflects a continuous pursuit of growth as both a musician and an artist.
As Executive Director of Metal Academy, I apply the same dedication offstage, leading the school’s operations, supporting faculty development, and fostering a community that inspires the next generation of metal musicians.
For me, music is more than a profession — it is the driving force behind everything I do.
